Animation Studies: Students will view classic animated films and learn about the history of animation in world culture. The class will include the basics of drawing for animation, including making flipbooks, animating paper cutouts, and animating objects.
American Culture Insights: American history and topics in arts and culture are combined in this multi-disciplinary and interactive class.
Chinese Brush Painting: Students apply a variety of Chinese Brush Painting techniques in popular Chinese painting themes.
Chinese Culture Insights: Chinese history and topics in arts and culture are combined in this multi-disciplinary and interactive class.
Chinese Storytelling: Students will learn classic Chinese stories and useful Chinese idioms, expanding their knowledge of Chinese culture and improving their oral Chinese skills.
Create a Comic Book: Students will learn about different kinds of comic books and will create their own characters and stories. Visual storytelling, basic cartooning, perspective drawing, and lettering will be covered in class.
English Writing: This summer class will use the students’ summer reading lists from school, focusing on writing about literature: character, setting, plot, and theme. Students will improve their writing skills through multiple drafts and revisions.
Sketching and Drawing: Students will learn the basics of sketching from the landscape and still life.
Strategy Games: Students keep their minds active by learning a variety of games, including Chinese chess (Xiang Qi), Go (Wei Qi), and English chess.
Discovery Day Activities: Students gain new insights about weekly stories and themes through non-traditional learning methods such as projects, immersions, and field trips on Discovery Day.
Our Faculty and Team for Summer Learning include CPR, First Aid and Allergen Awareness-certified resident faculty instructors, subject specialists, and classroom assistants. Our staff to student ratio is approximately 1:6. Please note that sessions and themes are subjected to rescheduling and changes.
